Project: Santa Monica Art Colony
Completion: July 1999
Architect: David Hibbert
The first live/work space in the city, the Santa Monica Art Colony was honored with the coveted Gold Nugget award for the "Best Apartment Project” (1-3 stories) in 2000. In addition, the project received a “Builder’s Choice” merit award from Builder’s Magazine.
Built from the ground up, this modern, 3-story, 22 unit complex features hardwood floors, high ceilings, sunny loft spaces, open kitchens with concrete countertops and private balconies and/or patios. Designed with artists’ needs in mind, the building features an extra large elevator and oversized doors in loft spaces to accommodate larger works for transport.
With several film, multi-media and video production companies nearby in Santa Monica’s industrial areas, Santa Monica Art Colony prime location has made it one of the most desirable live/work spaces in Southern California.
